On May 26, 2007 Cameron acquired the DPU product-line of PRIME Measurement Products which re-united the Barton oil and gas products with the Barton industrial products.

BARTON® Model 199 DPU 

BARTON Differential Pressure Units (DPUs) serve as actuating units for a wide variety of instruments. All models feature rupture-proof bellows.

Each DPU consists of a Bellows Unit Assembly (BUA) and removable pressure housings. Within the BUA, flexible bellows are secured to a centerplate.

In dual-bellows models, the movable bellows are rigidly connected by a dual valve stem that passes through the centerplate. Valve seats, in the centerplate passage, form a seal with the valves. Contacting the valve stem in the centerplate is a drive arm pivoted on the end of a sealed torque tube.


The bellows is filled with a clean, noncorrosive, low-freezing point liquid. A range spring assembly provides tension against applied pressures. In operation, pressure is applied to both sides of the bellows. Any difference in pressure causes the bellows to move until the spring effect (range springs) balances out the force. The linear motion of the bellows (proportional to the DP) is transmitted as a rotary motion through the torque tube. In dual-bellows units, if the bellows are subjected to a DP greater than the unit’s DP rating, a valve closes and “traps” the fill liquid in the bellows — fully supporting the bellows and preventing rupture. Since opposing valves are used, full protection is provided in either direction.

BARTON® Model 224 DPU


The 224C is a lightweight compact sensor that incorporates a rupture-proof bellows in a common-head design housing. It has an exceptionally fast response time, is self draining, and has built-in temperature compensation.

The 224C DPU consists of a Bellows Unit Assembly (BUA) and removeable pressure housings. within the BUA, flexible bellows are secured to a centerplate. In dual-bellows models, the movable bellows are rigidly connected by a dual valve stem that passes through the centerplate. Valve seats, in the centerplate passage, form a seal with the valves. Contacting the valve stem in the centerplate is a drive arm pivoted on the end of a sealed torque tube. The bellows is filled with a clean, noncorrosive, low-freezing point liquid. BARTON® Floco®/Flotrac® Positive Displacement Meters


True “industry standards”, Floco and Flotrac meters are staples in harsh environments that demand consistent, repeatable and rugged performance. Originally designed for raw crude oil production, the Floco F Series meter has proven itself to be a versatile unit that performs easily in a broad range of high viscosity fluids. Ideal for oils and grease, paints and coatings and even paraffin, the Floco meter can also be used to drive a proportional sampler to provide volume as well as product quality data. The Flotrac meter is a highly durable unit that provides accurate, high-pressure measurement of low viscosity liquids.

Like positive displacement meters, the Flotrac Meter is designed for mechanically measuring volumes of low-viscosity liquids flowing at high pressure. The Flotrac Meter employs the unique “constrained vortex” principle to provide an accurate measurement over a 10:1 range. Process liquid enters the metering chamber through the 1-in. (25-mm) inlet connection. As the liquid makes a 360-degree loop, it is separated equally into two streams. The special configuration of the metering chamber forces these streams into a series of vortices, causing the rotor assembly to rotate in direct proportion to the flow rate. The two liquid streams are then combined at the meter outlet port.

The Floco Series F Meter is a positive displacement meter with a unique rotor design that provides sustained accuracy even under adverse conditions. It accurately measures viscous, waxy, corrosive and abrasive liquids to within ±1% maximum accuracy. The Series F Meter measures liquid by separating it into equal portions and counting them. Liquid enters the meter through the inlet port, where the bridge deflects the liquid downward to strike the rotor blades and turn the rotor. The liquid then passes through the outlet port, which is aligned with the inlet port. The unique rotor design allows solid particles and sediment to pass through the meter without causing damage or malfunction. Bridge seals prevent the liquid from passing to the outlet port without being measured. Floco meters are unique in that the more viscous the process fluid, the better the meter performance. High viscosities allow the meter to measure low flow rates with improved accuracy.
